FTI Technology Provides Global Cookie Compliance for Entertainment Organisation
A global entertainment organisation with dozens of consumer-facing and event-specific websites initiated a cookie compliance exercise across multiple domains and applications, spanning four key jurisdictions and more than 10 languages. FTI Technology’s Information Governance, Privacy and Security experts worked with the client to meet compliance objectives ahead of impending event deadlines.
Situation
The organisation needed support with defining and implementing a global cookie compliance strategy. This included a need to realign the configuration of its privacy and consent management technology solutions. Additionally, the client needed support with building its new program in adherence to the best practices and requirements set by the Interactive Advertising Bureau’s widely accepted Transparency & Consent Framework. A robust compliance program and technology solution implementation was needed for all sites and applications in key geographies, including the U.S., U.K., Switzerland and the European Union, and it would need to do so in more than 10 languages.
Our Role
FTI Technology’s experts supported the creation, deployment and testing of a comprehensive cookie compliance program. This included updating cookie consent management code across websites and applications globally. The team provided:
- Domain scanning and initial cookie review: Scanned priority domains selected by the client, including websites and mobile applications, and reviewed any uncategorised cookies on those properties.
- Strategy assessment: Engaged with the client’s privacy office to outline the company’s digital strategy. This informed assessment of the cookies, banners and settings across all key jurisdictions.
- Categorisation of unknown cookies: Identified and provided quick wins at each stage of the project, including classifying previously undocumented cookies and other settings adjustments such as geolocation and preference centre behaviour.
- Testing: Examined banner deployment for each of the sites in the key jurisdictions to ensure that the consent and opt-out functions were operating properly, and that the new technology solutions met all compliance requirements.
- Marketing guidance: Advised the client’s marketing teams on the privacy office’s digital strategy and related technical changes. Provided guidance to integrate the new cookie consent solutions for reporting and marketing activities across multiple sites and applications.
